BACKGROUND:
SBCERA was established on January 1,1945 under the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 following a vote by the people of the County on May 16, 1944. More than two-thirds of San Bernardino County voters approved Proposition 2, paving the way for the legal formation of the County Retirement System.
SBCERA has grown by leap and bounds over the past eight decades, experiencing significant change, but our mission has always stayed the same. We understand the responsibility we have to our over 50,000 members and their loved ones. Our team remains focused on our service to them, while continuing to plan for the future.
Together, we celebrate 80 years of service, growth, and retirement security.
