BACKGROUND:

In September 2024, as part of SBCERA’s Strategic Priorities, staff established a pilot program with non-profit Financial Knowledge to provide free financial education courses to our members. 

 

All courses have been conducted by certified financial planner professionals and designed to empower our members in managing their personal finances.  The feedback received so far has been very positive, with most members saying their knowledge after attending the course was above average, the information was easy to understand, the information was very useful, and the instructor’s knowledge level of the subject was above average.  We will continue tracking the response of our pilot program and plan to incorporate these financial education courses for our members as part of the annual budget for FY 2025-26.

As part of the Board’s offsite meeting, staff will provide an overview of the program and feedback.
