BACKGROUND:

Donald Pierce, Chief Investment Officer for the San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association (SBCERA), has announced his intention to retire later this calendar year following 25 years of dedicated service to SBCERA and our members.

 

Staff recommends that the Board authorize the addition of a Deputy Chief Investment Officer (Deputy CIO).  This position is intended to further strengthen leadership capacity and support succession planning, with plans to recruit internally within the next month, pending Board approval. 

 

The expectation is that the Deputy CIO will report directly to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), with a dotted line relationship to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  Investment staff will be migrated to work directly for the Deputy CIO, with guidance and input from the CIO and CEO.    

 

The attached Salary Schedule adds the position of Deputy Chief Investment Officer at the newly created range 90.
