Recommend that the Board approve and adopt updates to Education and Training Policy No. 001 (Trustees Education/Training Policy).

BACKGROUND:

General Policy No. 005 involves the periodic review of Board Policies and indicates that the review shall be every three years.

 

Pursuant to General Policy No. 005, staff has conducted a review of Education and Training Policy No. 001 (Trustees Education/Training Policy) and recommends two areas of change:

 

1.                     Updating the list of optional education providers and sponsors; and

2.                     Updating the documentation section to remove the requirement for a signed verification form for attendance at educational events.  Trustees already provide a verbal report at each Board meeting on events attended at the expense of SBCERA.  In addition, each year, SBCERA publishes on its website a compliance report listing all trustee educational hours.
