BACKGROUND:
Attached as Exhibit A is SBCERA’s Chief Executive Officer’s report on recent key activities.
The other matter for discussion with the Board is the 2020 Investment Forum. Set for September 9-11, 2020, the Investment Forum is an opportunity to gather together our Trustees, executive and investment staff, consultants and fund managers for education and networking. The Lake Arrowhead Resort is currently closed, and there is no target date for them to fully open, nor is there a projected date for San Bernardino County to permit large gatherings in confined spaces, such as the Forum requires. Staff is currently reaching out to fund managers regarding their travel policies and restrictions, and will provide an oral report to the Board on our findings. There are financial penalties if SBCERA cancels the event, but Staff is trying to work with the resort to determine if deferring to a future date is a possibility. I will provide an update to the Board as part of my CEO report, so the Board can make a determination about canceling or deferring the 2020 Investment Forum.
