Requested Benefit:
1. Service-Connected Disability Retirement
Staff Recommendation:
1. John L. Charbonneau is permanently incapacitated for the performance of duties and a disability retirement should be granted.
2. John L. Charbonneau’s disability is service-connected based on the claimed injury(ies)/disease as listed in Exhibit A; therefore, grant a service-connected disability benefit.
3. Staff shall initiate disability benefit payments with an effective date of August 18, 2018, the day after the last day of regular compensation.
BACKGROUND:
At the August 6, 2020 board meeting, staff pulled this item to be deferred to a future Board meeting for staff to pursue clarification from the Sheriff’s department. In addition, the file was reassigned to Dr. Naqvi due to Dr. Hector no longer being on the SBCERA Medical Advisor panel.
