BACKGROUND:
On November 5, 2020, the Board directed staff to discuss with Jacob Kalinski, attorney for SEBA, an extension of time for SEBA to submit its appeal with respect to refunds of contributions for pay items which were required to be excluded as a result of the Alameda case. The extension of time to March 5, 2021, was communicated on November 9 to SEBA’s counsel.
Staff received a request from Grant Ward of SEBA to extend time for them to file appeals (presumably on other appealable matters). Staff believes that the request is reasonable, and that it is appropriate and fair to grant Mr. Ward’s request for additional time. It would be better administratively to address any of the SEBA appeals together, and therefore, staff recommends that the Board approve an extension of time for other appealable matters to the same date of March 5, 2021.
